- Freetime activities
Hallenburg Castle is surrounded by a spacious park that invites you to take a walk and relax.
You are also welcome to borrow one of our deckchairs free of charge and sunbathe in the park or on the lawn - all we ask is that you put the chair away afterwards.
You can find the chairs themselves in the cafeteria, in the dome hall of the guest house, in the foyer of the concert hall and in the reception room of the Schlossgärtnerei guest house.
- In the mood for a little sport
We have selected a few jogging routes for you, the outdoor swimming pool is only about 300 m away and some beautiful cycling routes start right near the castle.
You can also go canoeing on the Fulda. If you prefer to stay on site, then just grab a ball: you just have to choose between table tennis, football, badminton or billiards. And if you don't like any of that, how about juggling or darts?
- City of Schlitz
The fairytale castle town of Schlitz is definitely worth a visit and it is only a few minutes' walk to the city center.
Various city tours or a visit to the castle museum are definitely worthwhile. And from the “highest” attraction in the city, the Hinterturm, you have a great view over the entire city and the Schlitzerland.
Schlitz is home to what is probably the oldest distillery in the world. If you enjoy a sip of alcohol, then you should definitely try the award-winning creations. And if you are looking for a typical souvenir - you will find it here, we also sell a selection at our reception.
The towns of Lauterbach, Fulda, Hünfeld and Bad Hersfeld also offer numerous excursion options and can be reached by bus. We are happy to help you plan your trip.
- Public transportation
Schlitz is in the middle of nature, but is not “out of the world”. We are connected to various bus lines, so that arrival/departure or even a trip to the surrounding area is possible
